Advance Technology Coming Soon to Cedar Park Public Library

The Cedar Park Public Library is inching closer to its goal of installing a new technologically advanced radio frequency identification (RFID) system that ensures a more efficient way for the items to be checked in/out, and placed back on the shelves. The RFID is an integrated digital system that provides ‘real time’ customer service with increased speed and efficiency of check-in/out procedures, decreased re-shelving time, and much improved re-shelving accuracy. The system will ensure an efficient workflow by providing a means to keep the collection well-organized and easily accessible. The RFID system is an essential element in developing library services to meet the needs of the community as well as strengthening the ability of library to further advance their mission of serving the public.
The Cedar Park Public Library has received several generous donations such as; $38,330.00 in-kind equipment from the 3M Corporation, $50,000.00 cash donation from the Cedar Park Library Foundation, and $6,326.00 given from the Friends of the Library.
